Vocal Lessons

I'm not too sure where this goes, but I thought auditions would be most appropriate.

I'm currently looking for a vocal teacher, and I'm not sure how to start searching for one. There is one somewhat close to where I live, but she charges $35 for half an hour and that's a bit too high for my budget.
I live in the San Jose area, and was wondering if there are any good ways to find a somewhat cheaper vocal teacher around my area. I've tried Craigslist so far, but didn't find what I was looking for.

Korean Record Labels that have English online auditions/e-mail auditions

okay, so I've already sent my stuff to JYP, SM, Jellyfish, and Big Hit.

And I want to know more companies that I can audition to via internet.

It's better if it's e-mail but a long as it's in English and I don't have to post my video to Youtube then tagging them or any public means, it's okay.

I don't leave in Korea nor have the money to go there so this is my only hope (for now)

*note* I'm a very private person that's why I don't want to post my audition publicly.

Only one person besides me know about this. lol And I'm not the kind of person that you would think that can think of something like this.

(Just thinking of the people around me finding this out, LLLOOOLLLL, they will freak out and I'm sure they will have something to chit-chat about.)

So Please Don't assunme that I'm ashamed or I'm hiding the "fact" that I don;t have a talent or what.

U.S. 2013 SM Global Auditions (auditioning for modeling or watched a model audition)

Alright, so this weekend was the start of the U.S. leg of global auditions and it'll be my turn next week. I'll be auditioning in the model category and was wondering if anyone has or will be doing the same.

If you auditioned as a model or had someone within your group audition under the modeling category, could you please share an account of what happened?

I know that the official website says to have poses prepared, but I'm wondering what sort they're looking for (ie. runway, magazine or commercial), if they ask for a walk, and/or if models are expected to give some sort of prepared or improvised CF

If anyone can offer up anything at all, it would be very much appreciated ^///^;

Also, is anyone registered for the LA auditions and scheduled for the evening?

questions, info about LA weekly auditions
helloooo y'allll
I'm planning on auditioning for SM ent. at the weekly in LA
but I just had a few questions about the weekly auditions and wanted to hear some opinions about LA weekly auditions

1. Is it still going on?

2. How many people show up every week?

3. I heard the auditions are individual since there aren't that many people auditioning... Is this true?

4. Will they train you in the USA or send you to Korea?

5. IF they send trainees to Korea, do they provide EVERYTHING? (basic needs, transportation, place to live, etc.)

6. What's the age range they want? (I'm turning 18 soon T___T)

7. How long does the audition take?

8. Do I fill the applications on the day of the audition at LA?

9. Do they have the rhythm test? (What are some common songs they play)

10. Should I prepare a CD in case they don't do the rhythm test in LA?

11. If the judges tell me to stop while I'm singing, is it okay for me to tell them I wanna finish singing? Or will they get mad? (I just wanna show them confident characteristics. I don't mean it in an offensive or rude way.)

12. Have any of you gone to the LA weekly audition? If so, how was it?!

13. Any tips, advices, recommendations, etc. for me?

Maybe this is a little late to be posting....who knows if anyone will read this before their audition today - but I'm starting to 'freak out'/get really nervous now so I thought I'd see if any Soompiers will be at the Sheraton late evening tonight? ^^;; particularly maybe, any other foreigners so that I won't feel like the elephant in the room ;~;

Does anyone know if Starship or YMC take foreigners?

Hey Soompiers.

I was just curious, looking through the topics on the 'auditons' page, and I was wondering, if anyone knows if Starship Ent. (SISTAR, Boyfriend) or YMC Ent. (Ailee, Wheesung) take foreigners?

Heres some little details about me:

• I'm Chinese, not one bit Korean.
• I'm fluent in English and know little Cantonese (shocker haha)
• I don't really know much Korean, but I'm learning.
• I'm still in high school.
• I'm good at singing, I'm ok at dancing >.<

being a kpop star has been my dream since 2009, and i always feel like I'm not going to be able to be a kpop star because of my insecurities. (because I have a small nose and I have small teeth:( )

But if you could take the time to help me with this then thank you so much:)

JYP Online Audition Q&A

Hey everyone!
So i know that we all have been excited about the whole audition.jype.com site ever since last year but for the newbies who just figured it out (aka me) who didnt find out about it til now are wondering whats up with it? audition.jype.com says "Once we receive your video, you will be contacted in 2 weeks if we want you, it will be deleted in 7 days." Now if we check the last video upload it says "2009/11/26". . . . and todays date is. . . .drumroll please. . . . "2011/1/26". . . . . . wow. hahaha. So even if they do start to check videos, they have to check over a year worth which is 1496 pages. Those of us who are old would like to be accepted as a trainee now before they get any older haha. Also it says "If you sign up in a membership you can recieve feedback." Feedback eh? Who here has gotten feedback.

So this thread is all about audition.jype.com. Have any questions post them here and hopefully someone could answer them for you. (lets start with my questions above first HAHA:D")

So lets get it started :D

ps. Those who know the answers please reply to this, dont be shy, and if your too shy just message me thru inbox :) thxs ya'll

How much are you willing to give up?

$

To get into your #1 entertainment company?
I was reading that Rainbow's Jung Yoon lost ~44 lbs to be accepted. Also, some other stars had rough lives leading up to being accepted; I read this one guy (forgot who) almost died 3 times while living on the streets as a teen before debut. I think BoA stopped school for a few years, prior to debut. And many parents oppose it; the fact it is the entertainment industry, missing school, risky job, living in a foreign country (sometimes), etc.

How much are you willing to give up, sacrifice? Friends? Family? Your teen years? A private life?

1) If you were guaranteed entry to your favorite company
2) If you weren't guaranteed

1) I would be willing to give up a college education (for now). I'd go to college in the future though. I would get my weight to 86 lbs, and maybe go to a cheaper school so I can focus more on the arts. I wouldn't drop out of high school. I would move to a totally different country, away from friends and family, fully aware I might not see them for another few years. I believe in working hard today for a better tomorrow, so yes, I would give up my "teen" years, so I have a great future.

2) I would continue the activities I'm doing (acting, dancing, guitar, etc.), and drop my weight to around 94.5 lbs. I would stay in my high school, and go to a college majoring in acting (hopefully a college in Japan or Korea). Then, I'd live there until I'm a trainee. I wouldn't give up my friends or family (ie. staying where I live, not moving until college). Friends kinda suffer a bit, since I can't see them outside of school.

[soompi] Sm Audition Experience Account

date: 5/7/09 just wanted to share with you all...

Hi,

So first of all I'd like to begin with a big hug for all of us

who wish to enter the entertainment industry, wherever we are around the world!

I am quite shy in soompi so you probably won't have seen me around, at least not in the auditions section!

therefore...i shall introduce myself:

Name: Hyunji

Age: 16

Height: 5"4.5

Living in: London (but currently visiting relatives in Korea)

Ethnicity: Korean 100% image

Languages: fluent in korean english french and spanish (like actually)

Auditioned for: SM ent. (singer) and will be going to JYP and YG when i'm free.

I think that should be enough...

Anyway, I'm putting my experience up as I know from experience how frustrating it can be to
find out information about auditions particularly as we all live abroad!

Plus I wanted to clear any rumours about the audition process for SM ent.

so here goes and hope this helps! image

So I had been interested in auditioning since I was around 14 or so, quite late considering how many primary

school kids in korea flock to the auditions every saturday. But even 14 was too early for me, and though I went to

Seoul to visit my relatives with my family that year, I refused to audition. Looking back, it was a shame, as I found

out from my mother this year when i told her about auditioning, that even at the tender(?) age of 16, I am rather late

in going into training and debuting as many trainees have been training for many years already.

This doesn't mean that I am TOO late, as 16 is not old (if we said that 16 was old to someone in hollywood they'd

probably snort and laugh at us...). It's just that as many of you know, the korean music industry somehow has

developed this fetish for idols and jailbait...

Still...my parents would know, (my dad is a close friend of a famous PD in korea...) and if they said that my age was

okay,

I thought I would go for it this year (16years old).

I soon found out about Sm through the internet, and decided that I didn't want to wait in line for 3-4 hours on a

saturday afternoon outside in Apgujung...so I chose to send an email in instead. (yes this is the email audition option)

I did what it told me to do on the website, I filled out my details and then I attached 3pictures, (facex2 and 1 body)

and since I didn't have a recording I just sent the email straight away to Sm ent. Oh, just for reference I used my

Daum mail account.

After 2days, I got a reply asking me to come to the 'secret' or 비공개 or non-public auditions held on Sunday.

However the date was the 28th June and this was the day that I was coming to korea so obviously I couldn't make it.

I sent another email asking to change the date to 5th July and soon after they sent another reply that told me that

that was fine.

The email also consisted of what to do in preparation for the audition which was to practice 2 songs (korean)

and that was it. (there was more info if you werent singing but I'll leave that out)

so I was happy cuz id passed the first round of auditioning!

On the 5th July (audition day) image

I woke up did everything as normal, dressed and then my dad at around 1ish took me to 'Everysing' which is where

SM holds auditions, I went in and they told me to wait at the back with the rest of the auditionees.

There were 21 of us including me.

After a while at around 2pm, a lady took us down in to one of the rooms in the basement (Everysing is a karaoke

place btw) and we all waited and the lady gave us a form to fill out and told us the rules of auditioning, and then gave

us number labels.

**She told us that pop songs were not allowed. But then I asked her, as I'm much more comfortable singing in

English as I've lived abroad all my life, if I was allowed to sing a pop song and she replied yes, if that is more

comfortable for me.**

As I said there were 21 of us, and I happened to get the last one! image

so she took the ppl in groups of 10 and then 5 stood outside and sung or w/e they do.

I thought the auditions were held in another room but actually its just outside in the hallway where there's a really low

stage.

Anyway you can hear what everyone is singing/judges are saying.

Most ppl just got cut off - i heard some awful off key singing.... image

A small girl cried cuz she was scared i think...

Anyway so when the lady came back and the ppl 1-10 left, she said

"okay so ppl from 11-20"

And i was like WTF.

because I was no.21, and so that meant that I was going to be auditioning - alone.

so basically i was freaking about that, and when they all went out, i was like hyperventilating,

just going crazy, so then i drank some water (WATER IS A MUST!!!)

and calmed down.

after they all went, she came to get me and I stood on the stage. There were two women and the lady who led me

there. One was sitting and writing notes and the other was at the camera with the lady just standing and watching.

The notes lady told me to rake my hair back and behind my ears and stand in the middle of the stage.

She told me to sing, so I sang Umbrella by Rihanna.

"You had my heart and we'll never be worlds apart...ectectect"

The notes lady (sorry;;) said, "Can you sing another song?"

So I sang Navi's "A broken heart" (마음이 다쳐서)

My voice is really loud, and it sort of got amplified by 100 because I was nervous so they all kind of looked shocked

at me...

i was like OTL...

anyway, so after wards she asked me a couple of questions like,

1. How long have you lived abroad?

2. So you live in London?...are you here because school's finished?

3. How long is the Summer holiday? When does it end?

So I answered them, and then she just nodded and wrote stuff down,

and then she told me she was going to start the Rhythm test.

The song was Rihanna (haha)- Disturbia

So i did my thing, shook about and pranced around on stage,

and then after my dance was over, she said "Thank you, that will be all"

"You may return back home now."

and so I left.

When i was leaving I'm sure i heard something like, "So A is definitely a yes right?"

but i don't know who she was referring to...WHO IS 'A'????

I hope that was me...but that's pretty unlikely...MEH image

So I hope this was helpful,

and btw Sm does reply to email auditions, trust me.

AUDITIONS ARE FUN!!!

kekeke

ill be going to JYP next, and YG has sent me an email back so I shall be visiting there soon too!

Hopefully, I'll get in to Sm or JYP or YG!

That would be awesome!

Questions are welcome~

Sm Ent. Weekly Audition Korea 8/30 Experience

i was given the opportunity to audition at SM's Weekly Auditions in Korea
i though i'd share my experience with other auditioners

yesterday (8/29) i was planning to audition at SM's weekly audition in korea
unfortunately i came late, but an employee at the SM Everysing building told me to come tomorrow (8/30) Sunday at 1PM to audition
i was fairly surprised though, because i thought only auditions were on saturday

so earlier today when i auditioned, i went to the SM Everysing building, which is basically a place where there is noraebang and kids can take sticker pictures and talk and whatnot

take note that i do not know how to speak korean, but i was referring to my korean pocket dictionary* i'm chinese

i was told by an employee to sit down await, so i waited until 1PM,
at 1:10, i was brought down with 10 other people and waited downstairs,
and waited, until 2:00, until it accumulated to 26 people?

we were brought down to a noraebang room and given numbers, i was number 6
we were given forms, like any other audition and had to fill out personal information and etc.
the lady that guided us down explained details, which i didn't understand, but she was very nice
she started calling numbers, and i was worried because in the SM Global Auditions, its called by groups of 10, and i was number 6
so i left the room and asked her, but it was only groups of 5

when it was time for my group to audition, we stood on a little stage
i was fairly nervous because i wasn't sure that if one of the judges were to speak to me, how they would understand me because of the language barrier. there was one lady judge and one lady camera recorder

i was the first to sing and i sang SNSD Tiffany's By Myself. i sang the first verse and the chorus, the beginning went really well, but the chorus, i died a little bit lol
since the judge lady knew i didn't speak korean, the judge lady talked to me in chinese.
she asked me to pull back my hair and side bangs and look both ways and lift my chin and look into the camera, no one else in my group was asked to

the other people in my group sang and then it was time for the rhythm test, which was more like 50 seconds opposed to 30 in the Global Auds. it was Disturbia and i wasn't worried about this section because i've been dancing since i was 5.

it was a really nice experience and i wasn't nervous, except for the language barrier part. so what do you guys think?

If JYP, SM, YG Entertainment wanted you to become their traniee, which one you go to?

I would pick JYP Ent. because i like their artist and Jin Young Park seems nice and treat their artist well. Also i don't want to train in Korea (SM Ent. Training is in Korea; IDK about YG Ent. ) JYP Entertainment have this training system in NY, so i would pick JYP Entertainment! ^^

I have a question.

Has anybody ever auditioned for SM via email? if so, did anybody get any replies back?

I'm planning to audition this way because it's the best way for me to do so, but I was wondering if I should even bother because I'm not sure if they really check their audition emails or not.
